chalky

Recently I was asked to do a drawing on a glass panel in a shop. Exciting stuff!! Used liquid chalk pens. They are so fun to use. Took whole afternoon to draw the thing. Shop is called Stiller, Kings Street, Perth. go have a peep!

making labels

for my sister, who is making some cuffs to sell around Perth. I love print-gocco, it is so sad that they are discontinuing their products!!

time waits for no one

I'm currently addicted to a nintendo DS game and therefore have not got any time to do any drawings. Absolutely no self control. No time management skills. But I don't even care. Nintendo DS rules.

It's a balancing act

Taking ages doing up a label for my sister. Something she can use to price up her clothes. Sometimes I think about quitting and just doing art stuff, because it is hard to juggle lots of stuff at once. I don't have it.

Time waster

Need to have a timetable so that I don't waste my days off. Should spend time drawing, rather than surfing on the net all the time.

cropped and nudged

can you see the difference? tried fixing the background, make the patterns more aligned, which took ages. Then had to move some of them again as they all kept on hiding behind the foreground.
wow the colour changed. strange. Does this happen to JPEGs often?? its glow in the dark russian dolls. Yeah, I'm not very computer literate, if you hadn't figured it out already.

textile

I take so long rearranging things on photoshop!
I hope the edges fit together. Trying to come up with some patterns for my sister who is going to get some materials printed. not too sure about the tadpole like shapes behind the dolls.

Shading

I like doodling on bits of paper that's already been used before. When I start drawing on a brand new piece of paper I get nervous, and can't draw like usual.
Can really see that I'm not seeing things straight when I look at what I have drawn. That bottle is leaning towards the left.
I was planning on shading more space but it is time consuming.

m & m

This week I watched an Australian clay animation film called Mary and Max. Everything was so well made and in a lot of detail. I liked the raindrops on the window, how did they make it look so real??? I don't think it is being shown in many cinemas. Many cool looking old people were watching the film, which surprised me, as I thought this type of film will attract a young crowd. I think everyone except me in the cinema were in their fifties or sixties.

outline

Got one of these body things to help me draw a decently shaped human being. I must have played around with it as joints were going all different directions. Tried to bend him back in shape but his joints are really stiff. He is abit arthritic.

Someone once told me that my drawing are really hairy. I can't draw clean lines because I am indecisive and go up and down the same spot with the pencil. It's a difficult habit to stop. Few hairy lines in this drawing.

Tentative tentacles

Must be very handy to have tentacles, you can grab onto lots of things at once and also can eat them if you are hungry.
Pale colour pencils blend colours well

My sister just finished studying fashion in Tokyo. Her dress she made for her graduation show was featured in a Japanese fashion mag. Cool stuff. She better hurry up and start a label. and make me a kick-ass dress.

totally belated new year's resolution

I shall try to write a blog at least once a month. How about that. This will give me 12 entries per year on this blog. Pretty lame, but better than nothing.

I went to the gym for the 1st time this year. At least I went there I guess. Ok, another new year's resolution is trying to get to the gym at least once per month. Low goal. Hope I make it.

At the moment I am working on some designs for textile print. My sister can get them printed on material at her school, but I haven't got around to designing them. Slacker. Yes that's what I am.

Sketchbooks

I've been reading a blog called " Holiday Sketchbook". The sketches there look lovely. 　　

I take a sketchbook around everywhere I go as well, so I thought I will put few pages from them.

Melbourne

Got in Melbourne on Boxing Day. Checked out Myer. Crazy amount of people. Didn't buy anything that day.

Went to NGV to look at Andreas Gursky. Landscape looked like little minature models. I really like his work. The girl selling the tickets told us it will take about an hour to look at everything, but we took about 15 minutes. May be should stand and stare at pieces of art longer next time. I thought there was another room but there was only one.

Going to an art gallery inspired me to do some drawings. They never turn out as well as you imagine in your brain. Drawing bits of hair but they look like octopus tentacles.
